Stampeders and Alouettes meet again in CFL rematch

The Calgary Stampeders host the Montreal Alouettes on Saturday in the second meeting between the teams in a homeandhome series. Montreal won last week’s matchup 3730, powered by Tyson Philpot’s 132 receiving yards and a firstquarter touchdown. Calgary had chances late in that game but came up short on a fourthdown attempt near the goal line. The rematch at McMahon Stadium brings extra attention to the Philpot brothers, who played together at the University of Calgary before joining different CFL teams. Calgary receiver Jalen Philpot said the family competition makes the matchup more meaningful, while also noting Montreal quarterback Davis Alexander has been especially efficient to start the season. Alexander has not thrown an interception this year and has passed for more than 300 yards in each of Montreal’s first five games. Calgary quarterback Vernon Adams Jr. also has not been picked off this season, and the Stampeders are looking to start faster after several close losses. Calgary coach Dave Dickenson said ball security and defensive pressure will be key, while the team is also monitoring injuries to David Perales and Marquel Lee.
