USS George Washington arrives near Strait of Hormuz on a new U.S. mission See how the carrier strike group is sustaining 24/7 operations at sea

The USS George Washington has arrived in the Arabian Sea near the Strait of Hormuz as part of a new U.S. mission in the Middle East, replacing the USS Abraham Lincoln. The Nimitzclass aircraft carrier is operating under U.S. Central Command with several accompanying warships. Capt. Nicholas DeLeo said morale remains high among the ship’s roughly 5,000 sailors, who are carrying out flight operations, maintenance, navigation, and other duties around the clock. Rear Adm. Jeff Heames said the carrier strike group is ready for sustained operations and is executing its mission with precision and professionalism. The carrier is flying aircraft including F/A18E/F Super Hornets, F35C Lightning II jets, EA18G Growlers, E2D Hawkeyes, and Seahawk helicopters. The Navy also highlighted a recent milestone landing and ongoing resupply efforts at sea, including deliveries of food, ammunition, and fuel for aircraft operations.
