Train operations resume after derailment north of Montreal

Rail service has started resuming in Repentigny, Quebec, after a major derailment that disrupted traffic north of Montreal on Sunday afternoon. CN Rail said trains are now moving through the area at reduced speeds while crews carry out inspections, cleanup and remediation work. The company said staff will stay on site in the coming days as the response continues. The Transportation Safety Board of Canada said 49 rail cars were involved in the incident. Officials said no dangerous goods were released, no injuries were reported and residents who had been evacuated as a precaution were allowed to return home once the area was deemed secure. Power outages tied to the derailment have also been restored, while investigators continue examining possible causes.
