Highway 1 reopens in Fraser Canyon as wildfires continue near Boston Bar
Highway 1 reopens through Fraser Canyon after Brunswick wildfire closure DriveBC says one lane each way is open, with no-stopping rules in the fire zone
Highway 1 has reopened through British Columbia’s Fraser Canyon after being closed since July 7 because of the Brunswick wildfire complex near Boston Bar.
DriveBC said the route reopened Saturday with one lane open in each direction, a 60 km/h speed limit, and a nostopping rule in the wildfire zone. Officials said drivers should follow signs and avoid pulling over to take photos or videos.
Fire crews are still working on the Brunswick Creek and Ainslie Creek fires, both of which remain out of control. Evacuation orders and alerts are still in place, and crews are using the short period of cooler weather to make direct attacks before hotter, windier conditions return early next week.
