Canada pledges $270 million in new support for Ukraine

Prime Minister Mark Carney announced that Canada will provide $270 million to help Ukraine obtain military equipment needed for its defence against Russia’s invasion. The funding will be used to purchase items from a NATO list of priority assets.
Carney made the announcement in Yerevan, Armenia, while attending the European Political Community summit with other world leaders. He said Canada’s total monetary support for Ukraine now stands at $25.8 billion.
During meetings with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and European leaders, Carney also stressed the need for closer cooperation with Europe on security, energy, supply chains and technology. Zelenskyy thanked Canada for its support.
