Stocks move premarket as Akamai jumps and Scholastic falls
Akamai Technologies shares jump on a $11.6B Anthropic deal and new power pact See why Scholastic, Synopsys, Nike and Costco are moving before the open
Several U.S.listed companies moved in premarket trading on Friday, with Akamai Technologies, Scholastic, Synopsys, Nike, and Costco among the names drawing attention.
Akamai Technologies rose sharply after announcing a sevenyear power contract and an $11.6 billion deal with Anthropic, while also issuing a warrant tied to a possible share purchase. Scholastic declined after reporting a wider fiscal firstquarter loss and lower revenue than a year earlier.
Synopsys gained after HSBC upgraded the stock to buy, citing the company’s new business model and its potential to benefit from artificial intelligence demand. Nike slipped after Bank of America downgraded the shares, saying sales could weaken through much of fiscal 2027. Costco traded slightly lower even after posting quarterly results that beat analyst expectations.
