Boeing and Airbus plan next narrow-body jets as delivery pressures continue

Boeing and Airbus are beginning work on the next generation of singleaisle aircraft, but both companies say airlines are still more focused on receiving the jets already on order than on launching new models. Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg said the company needs more time to strengthen its finances before it can support a new commercial aircraft program. Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury said the company is aiming to launch its next singleaisle aircraft around 2030, with entry into service expected in the second half of the following decade. For now, both manufacturers are dealing with production bottlenecks and large backlogs. Boeing is trying to increase 737 Max output while continuing certification work on the Max 7 and Max 10, and Airbus is working through supply and engine constraints while focusing on deliveries of its A320 family. Analysts said investors and airlines remain centered on execution, supply chains, and delivery schedules rather than immediate demand for allnew jets.
