Another BC Conservative MLA leaves caucus amid snap election speculation
BC Conservatives face another caucus exit as snap election rumors intensify Find out how Linda Hepner’s resignation could reshape B.C. politics next
BC Conservative Leader KerryLynne Findlay has lost another member of her caucus as speculation grows that British Columbia could head into a snap election soon.
Linda Hepner, the MLA for SurreySerpentine River, resigned from caucus on Sunday. In a letter to Findlay, she said the party leadership had shown a lack of willingness to listen and pointed to Friday’s removal of Trevor Halford, Claire Rattee and John Rustad as part of her decision.
Hepner also questioned the leadership’s handling of internal disputes and criticized the party while it urged grassroots members to support it. Her departure makes her the 13th MLA to leave the BC Conservatives, reducing the caucus to 25 members.
The move comes as Premier David Eby may call an election as early as this week. Elections BC has already outlined possible voting dates if a writ is issued in the coming days, while the province’s next scheduled election remains set for Oct. 21, 2028.
