Canada-France security agreement expands classified info sharing on defence space, AI and aerospace to deepen cooperation before the G7 summit
Prime Minister Mark Carney said Canada and France have reached a new security agreement that will make it easier to share classified information tied to defence, space, artificial intelligence, and aerospace.
Carney announced the deal in Paris on Friday during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace. The two leaders also discussed trade, defence, and broader security issues ahead of next week’s G7 summit.
France, which is hosting this year’s summit, has said its priorities include responding to major geopolitical crises, supporting Ukraine, and improving online safety for children. The agreement is part of a wider effort to deepen CanadaFrance cooperation in strategic industries and security matters.
