Charges upgraded to murder in fatal Vancouver crash

Vancouver police have upgraded charges in a West End vehicleramming case after a senior who was struck during the incident died from his injuries. Tadd Bali now faces one count each of seconddegree murder and attempted murder, along with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. He had first been charged with four counts of dangerous operation causing bodily harm. Police say surveillance video from May 15 showed an SUV allegedly ramming several vehicles, driving through Nelson Park, and continuing along a sidewalk near Comox and Broughton streets around 5:30 a.m. Officers later stopped the vehicle by blocking its path. The victim, identified by family as Johnny Sudds, died in hospital on May 24 after being taken there in critical condition. Two police officers were also injured but did not suffer serious harm.
