Kawhi Leonard avoids suspension in NBA salary cap probe

Kawhi Leonard suspension update: NBA clears contract after Clippers probe Raptors return gets possible as the league hits L.A. with major penalties

The NBA has decided not to suspend Kawhi Leonard or void his contract after completing its investigation into the Los Angeles Clippers’ salarycap practices. The ruling removes a major obstacle for a potential move back to the Toronto Raptors. As part of the decision, the league punished the Clippers with the loss of five firstround draft picks and a $30 million fine. Team owner Steve Ballmer and business president Gillian Zucker were suspended for one year, and basketball operations president Lawrence Frank received a sixmonth suspension. Leonard was also ordered to pay the NBA $700,000 after investigators said he benefited from offcourt income arrangements linked to the Clippers and did not repay certain personal expenses. His uncle and former business manager, Dennis Robertson, was banned from working with NBA teams for five years.
