British Columbia is facing a fastmoving wildfire emergency, with more than 5,000 people placed under evacuation orders in the past 24 hours as the number of active fires climbed past 100.
Provincial officials said strong winds, lightning and dry conditions helped fuel rapid growth in several parts of the province. About 130 wildfires are now burning in B.C., and nearly half are considered out of control.
Officials said the situation remains too dangerous to assess all structure damage, but additional resources are being brought in from other provinces and countries to support firefighting efforts. Residents in atrisk areas are being urged to prepare emergency supplies, update evacuation plans and register for support services if needed.
