B.C. major parties on track to run candidates in all ridings

BC election candidates race as major parties near full slates across 93 ridings See which parties are filling ridings fast and who still has work to do

British Columbia’s main political parties appear close to fielding candidates in all 93 ridings ahead of the Oct. 3 nomination deadline, while smaller parties are still trying to fill out their slates. According to Elections BC, the New Democrats had 43 official candidates on the list as of Sept. 30, and the Conservatives had 32. Both parties say their actual totals are higher on their own websites. Smaller parties are well behind. CentreBC and OneBC each had one official candidate registered, and the Greens had seven. The article says candidate counts for those parties remain in the single digits, with all three saying their totals are higher than the Elections BC figures. The report also notes that CentreBC and OneBC did not exist in the 2024 election and emerged after the B.C. Conservative Party split following internal disagreements.
