US Republicans send final CLARITY Act offer to Democrats
CLARITY Act revision adds ethics, stablecoin, and blockchain updates for crypto See what changed before Tuesday’s Senate vote and how it could shape crypto rules
Senate Republicans have released revised CLARITY Act text in an effort to win Democratic support ahead of a procedural vote on Tuesday. The 635page proposal includes changes to ethics rules covering government officials and digital assets, along with updates to stablecoin and blockchainrelated provisions.
According to Sen. Cynthia Lummis, the revised bill reflects a year of bipartisan negotiations and includes 126 changes requested by Democrats. The updated ethics language would bar certain federal officials and their spouses from holding significant interests in digital assets, while also allowing state attorneys general to enforce the restrictions.
The bill also revises parts of the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act, extends some protections to miners and validators, and adjusts how consumer protection and conflictofinterest rules would apply to digital commodity markets. The Senate vote will determine whether the legislation advances to further consideration.
