GM to launch proprietary in-vehicle AI system later this year

General Motors said it plans to introduce its own invehicle artificial intelligence assistant later this year, with a focus on features built specifically for GM vehicles and owners. The company says the new system will be more closely integrated with vehicle functions and telematics than its recently launched Google Gemini assistant. GM is working with an unnamed large language model provider to support features such as predictive maintenance, vehicle telemetry, and other autospecific tools. GM said the assistant is intended to make ownership simpler by better understanding the vehicle, driving needs, and customer preferences. Possible uses could include personalized settings for passengers, such as music, climate, seats, and door locks.
