Intel rose after Bank of America upgraded the chipmaker to buy, citing stronger demand for CPUs tied to growing interest in agentic artificial intelligence. Oracle fell after saying it plans to raise $20 billion in equity and debt to help fund its AI expansion, even as the company beat expectations on revenue and profit and lifted its adjusted earnings outlook.
The company’s spending plans also lifted chip equipment names, including Applied Materials, Lam Research, KLA and ASML.
