Trump says Bombardier must build in the U.S. to keep selling there
Bombardier tariffs intensify as Trump demands U.S. manufacturing to keep selling See how the U.S.-Canada trade fight could raise costs and reshape aerospace deals
President Donald Trump said Monday that Bombardier, the Canadian aerospace company, would need to manufacture its products in the United States if it wants to continue selling in the American market.
The remarks came as trade tensions between the U.S. and Canada intensified, with Canadian retaliatory tariffs of about $20 billion on U.S. goods scheduled to begin Tuesday. Trump made the comments on Truth Social, saying the company should stop treating the U.S. like a source of easy profit.
Bombardier did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The dispute adds to a broader breakdown in trade talks between Washington and Ottawa, with both sides imposing new penalties on each other’s goods.
