U.S. customs operations at MontrealPierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport have resumed after an odour from construction materials forced some flight cancellations on Wednesday.
About 20 flights from Montreal to the United States were cancelled while U.S. Customs and Border Protection temporarily suspended service in the airport’s U.S. area. Aéroports de Montréal said the smell came from varnish used in construction work.
The airport authority said inspections by the Montreal Fire Department found no health risk. Ventilation was increased, and U.S. operations began resuming around 11:15 a.m., though delays were still expected. Passengers were advised to check with their airlines before heading to the airport.
