Ontario's alcohol and gaming regulator says Great Canadian Entertainment, the operator of Pickering Casino Resort, has been fined $170,000 after an audit found failures in monitoring certain patrons and reporting suspicious activity.
The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario said the casino did not properly assess and track some highrisk patrons and did not file required suspicious transaction reports in several cases where activity raised possible money laundering concerns.
The regulator said the company has 15 days to appeal the decision. Great Canadian Entertainment had not responded to a request for comment at the time of the report.
