Google expands AI and economy research team
AI and Economy Research Program expands with top advisors and new leaders Explore how Google is tracking AI's impact on jobs, productivity, and growth
Google has expanded its AI and Economy Research Program with new academic advisors, visiting fellows, and research leaders. The company says the group will study how artificial intelligence affects jobs, productivity, business growth, scientific discovery, and the spread of AI across different markets.
Among the new additions are Nobel laureate Philippe Aghion and economist Ajay Agrawal as academic advisors and visiting fellows. Google also named Anu Madgavkar and Daniel Rock as directors of the program. They will help lead empirical research on labor market changes, enterprise productivity, global AI diffusion, and the impact of generative AI on workers and small businesses.
Google says the expanded team will support its AI & Economy ATLAS updates and broader research efforts. The goal is to combine data and economic analysis to better understand how AI is changing work and to inform policy, training, and business decisions.
