BC Conservatives gain support as BC NDP fall in new poll
BC election poll shows Conservatives gaining ground as NDP support slips Ipsos finds a tighter race, shifting leader ratings, and big undecided numbers
A new Ipsos poll for Global News shows the BC Conservatives gaining ground in British Columbia’s election race, while the BC NDP has lost support over the past two weeks.
The survey, conducted from Sept. 25 to 29, found the BC Conservatives at 42 per cent, up seven points from the previous poll. The BC NDP fell to 40 per cent, down five points, putting the two parties within the poll’s margin of error.
Ipsos said the results reflect a major shift after the resignation of Conservative leader KerryLynne Findlay and the rise of interim leader Lorne Doerkson. The poll also showed weaker personal ratings for NDP Leader David Eby, raising questions about the party’s decision to call an early election.
The top issues for voters remained the cost of living, health care, and housing affordability. Support for the BC Greens stood at 10 per cent, while OneBC and CentreBC each had 3 per cent. The poll also found that 27 per cent of respondents were undecided or had no preference.
