CoinMarketCap acquires CoinGlass to expand derivatives data

CoinMarketCap has acquired CoinGlass, a crypto derivatives data platform, in a deal with undisclosed terms. The purchase expands CoinMarketCap’s coverage of leveraged trading and related market data across major exchanges. According to the announcement, CoinGlass will keep its brand and team after the acquisition. Its website, app, free tools, API, and pricing will remain unchanged. CoinGlass provides data on open interest, funding rates, liquidations, and options, covering 28 exchanges and more than 2,500 instruments. CoinMarketCap said the addition will give users more context on derivatives positioning alongside price data, including where liquidations are concentrated and how funding rates are moving. CoinMarketCap is owned by Binance, which bought the platform in 2020.
