Former Vancouver mayor says a B.C. cabinet minister is under investigation
B.C. cabinet minister investigation claim raises sovereignty concerns in Vancouver Kennedy Stewart says officials know more—see what’s behind the allegation now
Former Vancouver mayor Kennedy Stewart said on a CKNW radio show that a current B.C. cabinet minister is under investigation, and claimed the matter is already known within provincial political circles.
Stewart, now an associate professor at Simon Fraser University’s School of Public Policy, said he had been interviewed by lawyers working for the federal government for several hours about the allegation. He said he had also raised the issue with senior B.C. NDP officials and believes the premier and several cabinet members are aware of it.
In his comments, Stewart said the investigation involves allegations of collaboration with the Chinese government and argued that the issue raises concerns about sovereignty and democracy. Global News noted that the claim comes as it has also reported on separate concerns involving Chinese consular officials and a Vancouver city hall employee.
