Sen. Josh Hawley said Sen. Mitch McConnell’s team should give constituents clearer information about the Kentucky Republican’s condition as questions continue over his prolonged absence from the Senate.
Hawley said McConnell and his family deserve support, but argued there is also an obligation to keep voters informed, especially as Republicans face a narrow majority and missed votes affect key legislation.
McConnell, 84, has been away from the Senate for more than a month after a fall at home led to hospitalization and later pneumonia. He has said he hopes to return to the Senate floor as soon as possible and will keep Kentuckians updated on his recovery.
