Surrey announces 10,000-seat arena and Vancouver Giants relocation
Surrey arena plan brings a 10,000-seat venue, Giants home and big city growth See how the City Centre project could reshape events, housing and local jobs
The City of Surrey says it will build a new 10,000seat arena and cultural event centre, and the Vancouver Giants will move there as its future home.
The project, called the City Centre Arena and Cultural Event Centre, is planned for land near Surrey City Hall and the Surrey Central SkyTrain Station. The city says the venue will host sports, concerts and cultural events, and will also be paired with a hotel, conference space and housing.
Surrey says the development is expected to generate about $2.4 billion in economic benefits over 10 years. The arena is projected to cost a net $360 million and is expected to be completed by 2030, with funding already included in the city’s 2026 budget.
