Ontario murder charge in Robert Prevost homicide in eastern Ontario case See how police identified the victim and arrested a suspect in the cold case

Ontario Provincial Police have charged a man with firstdegree murder in a homicide that dates back to last year in eastern Ontario. Police said officers from the Russell County detachment found a body in the Ottawa River near Dallaire Street on May 17, 2025. An autopsy later identified the victim as Robert Prevost, 63, of ClarenceRockland. He had been reported missing in March 2025 and was last seen at his home on Laurier Street in February. On Thursday, police arrested 51yearold Luc Decarie of StGabrieldeBrandon, Que., and charged him with firstdegree murder, indignity to a body and conspiracy to commit murder. He is due in court on Friday.
