Barnes says Raptors expectations have not changed
Scottie Barnes and the Raptors keep their championship focus while aiming for a stronger playoff run as Barnes targets bigger offensive and defensive gains
TORONTO — Scottie Barnes says the Toronto Raptors’ goals have stayed the same even as the team looks to build on last season and improve its playoff results.
Barnes said the organization has long talked about winning and chasing a championship, and that mindset has not shifted over his five seasons in Toronto. He pointed to the Raptors’ defensive identity, saying the team’s latest additions should help them try to move further in the postseason.
Barnes also said he wants to take another step offensively this season, especially in lategame and oneonone situations. Raptors coach Darko Rajakovic added that Barnes should aim for a spot on the NBA AllDefensive First Team after earning secondteam honors last season.
