Quebec labour minister Jean Boulet says he will leave politics after his term

Quebec Labour Minister Jean Boulet said he will not seek reelection in the province’s Oct. 5 vote, ending a political career that began with his first election in 2018.
Boulet made the announcement in his riding of TroisRivières on Wednesday. He has held several cabinet roles over the years, including labour, immigration, economy and Canadian relations.
The Coalition Avenir Québec minister said he plans to pursue other professional opportunities after completing his current term. He also said the party’s low polling numbers were not part of his decision and expressed support for Premier Christine Fréchette.
