Major delays expected on Sea to Sky during GranFondo

Sea to Sky Highway closures disrupt RBC GranFondo Whistler traffic on Saturday Plan ahead for one-lane delays, bridge closures and safer travel through the day

Drivers are being warned to expect significant traffic disruptions on the Sea to Sky Highway on Saturday as the RBC GranFondo Whistler takes place. The cycling event begins in Stanley Park and ends in Whistler later in the day. Highway 99 is closed between Taylor Way near the Lions Gate Bridge and Horseshoe Bay for much of the day. North of Horseshoe Bay, the highway is reduced to one lane in both directions, with alternating singlelane traffic at Porteau Cove, Furry Creek and Britannia Beach until 4 p.m. The Lions Gate Bridge, which was closed earlier in the morning, reopened at 8 a.m. More than 5,500 riders are registered for this year's race.
