Army Secretary Dan Driscoll submits resignation to Trump

Army Secretary Dan Driscoll resigns amid Pentagon tensions and Army reforms White House review is pending as readiness concerns and leadership changes deepen

Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has submitted his resignation to President Donald Trump, according to a senior U.S. official cited by Fox News. The White House has not accepted the resignation, and the decision remains pending. A source familiar with the matter said Driscoll raised concerns about the Army’s transformation and readiness, including objections to moves he believed were slowing those efforts. The report said tensions grew after Secretary of War Pete Hegseth removed several senior Army leaders, among them Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George. Driscoll previously defended George in a House Appropriations hearing in April, describing him as a respected and transformational leader. The Wall Street Journal reported that Driscoll is expected to leave the Pentagon in the coming days. He has served as Army secretary while also working to expand the service’s drone capabilities with Silicon Valley companies.
