New bus-only roadway on former Scarborough RT route will shorten commute times
Scarborough Busway cuts travel time for TTC riders by about seven minutes. See how the new bus-only corridor speeds up trips to Kennedy Station.
The TTC says a new busonly roadway in Scarborough opened on Wednesday and should reduce travel time for some commuters by about seven minutes between Scarborough Centre and Kennedy Station.
The fourkilometre Scarborough Busway was built on the former Line 3 Scarborough Rapid Transit corridor and includes new sidewalks, lighting, bus shelters and added stops at Tara Avenue, Lawrence Avenue East and Ellesmere Road.
The TTC said nine bus routes will use the corridor, and the replacement Line 3 bus service will run entirely on the new roadway. Transit advocates said the project is an important step for commuters who have long pushed for a route that can avoid traffic while the subway extension remains delayed.
