Rosemère High School data breach exposes sensitive parent details in Quebec See what was shared, how the board responded, and what affected families should know

Parents at Rosemère High School in Quebec say they were alarmed after the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board sent an email that mistakenly included an attachment with sensitive personal information. According to the report, the spreadsheet contained details for hundreds of parents and guardians, including names, dates and places of birth, social insurance numbers, contact information and emergency contacts. Students’ names were not included. The school board apologized, said it is investigating what happened and will report the breach to Quebec’s accesstoinformation commission. It also urged recipients to delete the email and attachment and not to share the document further.
