Dangerous driving charge follows Aurora man’s Rotary Park police chase in Ajax See how police say the incident unfolded and what charges the driver faces

A 23yearold man from Aurora has been charged after police say he drove dangerously through Rotary Park in Ajax on July 18. Durham Regional Police said they responded just before 6:30 p.m. after reports that a white Toyota sedan entered the busy park and drove through areas including a playground, splash pad and walking paths while children were present. Police said the driver was later found near Westney Road South and Bayly Street West, but fled. Officers say he returned to the park, crossed a pedestrian bridge and fled again before being located a short distance away and taken into custody. He faces charges of dangerous operation and failing to stop for police, and no injuries were reported.
