Greater Toronto home sales rise 7% in April as prices fall
GTA home sales rise as prices ease in April amid lower borrowing costs See what’s driving the rebound and where buyers are returning fastest
Home sales in the Greater Toronto Area increased in April for the second month in a row, while prices continued to ease, according to the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board.
The board said 5,946 homes changed hands last month, up 7% from April 2025 and 6.1% from March on a seasonally adjusted basis. The average selling price fell 4.9% year over year to $1,051,969, and the benchmark price declined 6.6%.
TRREB said lower borrowing costs and softer prices have helped bring some buyers back into the market, though inventory remains tight in parts of the region. Toronto saw 2,312 sales in April, while the rest of the GTA recorded 3,634. Detached homes and condos led the increase in activity, while townhouse and semidetached sales rose only slightly.
