Canada is sending a strong roster to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where the competition will feature fewer medals and a smaller sports program than in Birmingham four years ago. The Games open Thursday and run until Aug. 2, with about 3,000 athletes from 74 countries and territories taking part in 10 sports. Calgarybased swimmer Josh Liendo, sprinter Andre De Grasse, hammer throwers Ethan Katzberg and Camryn Rogers, decathlete Damian Warner, and shot putter Sarah Mitton are among the Canadian athletes expected to headline the team. Canada’s delegation includes 149 athletes, and team leaders say the event still matters as both a major competition and a stepping stone toward future Olympic and Paralympic Games.
