CME Group Names Lynne Fitzpatrick as Next CEO
CME Group CEO transition set for 2027 as Lynne Fitzpatrick takes over Terry Duffy becomes executive chairman while CME keeps its growth momentum
CME Group said longtime chief executive Terry Duffy will step down from the CEO role in 2027 and move into an executive chairman position on March 1, 2027. President and Chief Financial Officer Lynne Fitzpatrick will take over as CEO.
Duffy has led the Chicagobased exchange operator for more than two decades, overseeing its growth from a floorbased exchange into a major global derivatives marketplace. During his tenure, CME completed major moves including its IPO, the shift to electronic trading, and acquisitions of the Chicago Board of Trade, the New York Mercantile Exchange and NEX Group.
Fitzpatrick, who has been with CME for 20 years, has served as president and CFO since 2022. The company said she has played a central role in strategy, capital allocation and investor relations, and both executives said they look forward to the transition.
