Evacuation order expanded for Clinton, B.C., as Pear Lake wildfire grows

Officials have expanded evacuation orders linked to the Pear Lake wildfire to include the Village of Clinton, B.C., and several nearby communities. The ThompsonNicola Regional District issued the new order Friday morning as the fire continued to spread. The latest order affects about 118 properties in total, including roughly 60 addressed properties in the newly impacted area. Those locations include parts of Highway 97, Clinton Station Road, Danielson Road, Elliot Park Way, Fenton Road, McCall Road and PavilionClinton Road. As of Friday morning, the Pear Lake wildfire had grown to about 44.7 square kilometres. Authorities said the evacuation expansion was prompted by the ongoing wildfire threat in the region.
