Tim Scott wants Warsh to address data centers and AI

Senate Banking Committee Chair Tim Scott said he wants to question Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh about data centers and artificial intelligence during this week’s hearings in Washington. Warsh is set to appear before Scott’s committee on Wednesday as part of the Fed’s semiannual monetary policy report to Congress, after testifying first before the House Financial Services Committee on Tuesday. Scott said the discussion should go beyond interest rates and inflation to include the growing impact of AI infrastructure, especially the electricity and water demands of data centers. He noted that South Carolina is already seeing debate over whether some data centers should be restricted, reflecting wider concern about utility costs and resource use.
