OpenAI says ChatGPT usage has expanded globally

ChatGPT usage growth drives more messages and broader task use worldwide See how OpenAI's latest data shows rising engagement, global adoption, and wider access

OpenAI has published new data showing that ChatGPT use has grown in both frequency and variety as the product has reached a larger global audience. The company says people are sending more messages over time and using the tool for a wider range of tasks. According to the analysis, users who have been active for longer tend to send more messages per day and explore more capabilities than they did when they first signed up. OpenAI says that six months after registration, users were sending 50% more messages per day and had tried twice as many distinct tasks. The report also says adoption has increased across every region since July 2023, with the fastest relative growth in Africa and Asia. OpenAI notes that lowerHDI countries have seen particularly strong growth and says its free and Go plans have helped widen access. It also says ChatGPT usage has become more diverse, with nonEnglish usage now representing more than half of active users and languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic leading among nonEnglish traffic.
