B.C. NDP leader proposes new tax bracket for millionaires to fund health care
BC NDP tax bracket for millionaires could fund health care and public services See how Eby’s plan may reshape B.C. taxes ahead of the Oct. 24 election
British Columbia NDP Leader David Eby says his party would create a new tax bracket for people earning $1 million or more if it wins reelection. He says the measure is intended to help pay for health care and support public services.
Eby announced the plan on Sunday while campaigning in Comox on Vancouver Island, after visiting ridings in southern B.C. ahead of the Oct. 24 election. He said more details would be released at a campaign stop in Victoria.
The proposal comes as the NDP campaign also includes earlier promises on grocery and fuel affordability, as well as other tax changes aimed at housing speculation and vacant properties.
