Doug Burgum says DC restoration shows America is rejecting decline
Washington, D.C. restoration highlights Trump’s push to renew monuments and public spaces with cleanup, repairs, and major projects ahead of July 4.
Interior Secretary Doug Burgum said the Trump administration’s restoration work in Washington, D.C., reflects a broader rejection of national decline. He argued that repairing monuments, statues, fountains, roads, and public spaces shows that progress comes from direct action.
Burgum made the comments on Fox News while appearing at the Great American State Fair in Washington ahead of the July 4 holiday and the country’s 250th Independence Day celebration. He pointed to cleanup efforts around the capital, including graffiti removal, road repairs, and work on the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
According to the article, the administration has also invested in other major projects in the city, including restoration work at the Kennedy Center and a planned White House ballroom. Burgum said the changes demonstrate that the government is trying to restore the city’s appearance and address problems that had been left unresolved.
