A former Vancouver Police Department volunteer is facing a sixth assault charge in connection with a series of alleged unprovoked attacks in Vancouver, according to court proceedings reported on July 13, 2026.
Prosecutors are seeking to revoke bail for Dylan Brandon Gaita, 29, who is accused of six assaults, including two causing bodily harm, between January 2025 and June 2026. The allegations include incidents involving women on Granville Street and a later case in which an older woman suffered a fractured pelvis.
Police said Gaita had previously been released on bail with conditions that included electronic monitoring and staying away from downtown Vancouver. He is now accused of two more attacks on Commercial Drive in June, prompting the Crown’s latest bid to keep him in custody while the bail hearing continues.
