Ontario and federal governments fund $5 million export program for Europe

The federal and Ontario governments are funding a $5 million program designed to help up to 70 Ontario companies expand into European markets as trade tensions with the United States continue.
Called GoEU, the initiative will be run by the Toronto Business Development Centre and will focus on businesses facing tariffrelated pressure, especially in sectors such as automotive and steel. The program will provide market research, local business connections, and support for companies that want to explore sales opportunities in Europe.
Federal Economic Development Agency for Southern Ontario minister Evan Solomon said the effort is meant to help companies diversify their exports, while Ontario economic development minister Vic Fedeli said tariffs have disrupted longstanding business ties with the U.S. Officials said the goal is to strengthen trade outside North America and help firms adjust to changing market conditions.
