LAFC fires Marc Dos Santos after a poor run that dropped the club to sixth Search updates on the coaching change, playoff push, and what comes next
LAFC has dismissed head coach Marc Dos Santos after a difficult run that left the club with only two wins in its last 13 matches across all competitions. The decision came on Sunday, one day after a 10 loss to FC Dallas pushed LAFC down to sixth place in the Western Conference with six games left in the MLS regular season.
In a statement, LAFC president of soccer operations John Thorrington thanked Dos Santos for his contributions to the club and wished him well. The team said it will start its search for a new manager immediately, but it did not say who will lead the team in its next match after the FIFA international break.
Dos Santos had returned to LAFC as an assistant in 2022 before being promoted to head coach after Steve Cherundolo stepped down following last season. LAFC began this season strongly, going unbeaten in its first 11 matches in all competitions, but its league form declined after that stretch. The club was also without several key players, including Denis Bouanga and Son Heungmin, during Saturday’s loss because they were away on national team duty.
