Coinbase files to bring single-stock perpetual futures to the US
Coinbase perpetual futures for stocks could bring 24/5 equity exposure. See how the planned product may let traders trade Apple, Tesla and more.
Coinbase has filed with the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission to list singlestock perpetual futures, a derivatives product that would let traders gain 24/5 exposure to individual US equities without owning the shares directly.
The proposed contracts would not expire, unlike standard futures, and they would be offered through Coinbase Derivatives if regulators approve the filing. The company said the product would extend its existing perpetual futures business in the US to stocks.
According to reporting cited in the article, Coinbase may initially target about 50 to 60 stocks, including Apple, Microsoft, Tesla and Nvidia. The filing follows an earlier step in which Coinbase Derivatives registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission to offer security futures.
