Police recover nearly $1 million in stolen property after Mississauga mall break-in

Peel Regional Police say a 41yearold Mississauga man has been charged after a breakin at Holt Renfrew in Square One Shopping Centre that led to the recovery of nearly $1 million in stolen property. Investigators say a masked suspect used tools to force entry into the store on April 30, then smashed display cases and took jewelry and clothing worth about $800,000. Police later tracked the suspect using security cameras, recovered an unattended vehicle believed to have been stolen during the escape, and executed a search warrant that turned up a significant amount of merchandise. Police say the recovered items also included jewelry not tied to the mall breakin and nearly $10,000 in lottery tickets. The accused remains in custody facing several charges, including break and enter, motor vehicle theft, possession of breakin instruments, and breachrelated offences. Police and retail officials said the case highlights the growing impact of organized retail crime on businesses and public safety.
