Amazon Prime Video will exclusively stream Wednesday night NHL regularseason games in Canada in English and French starting next season, under a new 12year sublicensing deal with Rogers Communications.
The agreement also gives Prime Video selected Stanley Cup playoff games each year, including two firstround series and one secondround matchup. Rogers said the playoff picks will be made through a draftstyle selection process.
Prime Video will offer at least 26 national regularseason games beginning Sept. 30 at no extra cost for Prime members in Canada. The deal runs alongside Rogers’s broader national NHL media rights package through the 203738 season.
The announcement comes after Rogers and CBC said they would not renew their sublicensing deal, ending Hockey Night in Canada on CBC after the 202526 season and removing NHL games from freetoair television. Sportsnet will continue to hold most Englishlanguage national NHL rights, while the Frenchlanguage rights situation has not yet been fully announced.
