Two pedestrians, a man and a woman in their 60s, died after being struck by a vehicle in Scarborough on Friday afternoon, according to Toronto paramedics. Police said the collision happened shortly after 1:30 p.m. at Birchmount Road and Lawrence Avenue East. After hitting the pedestrians, the vehicle also crashed into a pole. Three people inside the vehicle, including two women in their 60s and a sixyearold child, were taken to hospital as a precaution with nonlifethreatening injuries. Police have not yet released the identities of the pedestrians.
