U.A.E. reportedly warned Netanyahu about Hamas operation before Oct. 7 attack
UAE warning to Netanyahu: Haaretz report on Hamas threat before Oct. 7 See the claims, denials, and political fallout shaping Israel's election debate
An Israeli newspaper reports that United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed warned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about a planned Hamas operation about 10 days before the Oct. 7, 2023 attack.
According to Haaretz, the warning said the attack could cause major bloodshed, destabilize the region, and threaten the Abraham Accords, the normalization agreements between Israel and several Arab and Muslimmajority countries. The report says Netanyahu responded calmly and told bin Zayed Israel was prepared for any scenario.
Netanyahu's office rejected the report as false, saying he did not speak with the U.A.E. president during that period and received no warning directly. The office added that any relevant information would have been shared through intelligence channels. The report comes as Israel heads toward national elections, with Netanyahu's handling of the Oct. 7 attacks remaining a major political issue.
