Several major U.S. stocks moved sharply in afterhours trading on Thursday after companies reported quarterly results and updated guidance.
Amazon shares rose more than 9% after the company posted strongerthanexpected revenue and cloud growth for the second quarter. Its cloud business grew 37% year over year, above Wall Street forecasts.
Apple shares fell more than 4% as investors reacted to its earnings report, even though the company delivered higherthanexpected revenue helped by a 22% increase in iPhone sales. Rivian stock rose nearly 2% after the electric vehicle maker cut its 2026 spending plans and slightly narrowed its loss outlook for the year while reaffirming its delivery target. Reddit shares dropped more than 7% after the company warned that searchreferral traffic from Google was uneven, despite beating earnings expectations and issuing strongerthanexpected guidance. Coinbase and First Solar also saw notable moves after reporting results.
